Willow of the Heart

Willow of the Heart

Written February 3, 2020

There is a willow in my heart,
Whose leaves refuse to ruffle,
The wind, it blows,
The sky, it snows,
The leaves? Not a scuffle.

But then you came along,
Singing a delicate little song,
The one that tickles,
Its manner fickle,
And to that willow it has gone.

Now that willow,
Its boughs, they billow,
But with it, there’s nothing wrong.
All it wants, its mind ensconced,
Is to hear that little song.

  1. safira…..I love the willow. Where Henry and I grew up, Ro planted a Willow tree, in honor of her Dad Henry……if I remember correctly…I wonder if the willow is in your genes? Thank for the poem and the memory. Love Laine
